The Child Abuse Network's Annual Superhero Challenge is back in person this year.

There are two obstacle courses the one-mile superhero challenge for ages 6 and up, and the half-mile side-kick challenge for the younger kids. General admission course start times begin at noon and run in 30-minute increments. There's also a virtual race option for anyone wanting to participate from home.

All proceeds go to Tulsa's Child Abuse Network which provides free intervention services for thousands of children involved in a child abuse investigation. Kayla Vaughn is the Director of Development for CAN and she says they've seen child abuse cases skyrocket during the pandemic including more than 1,600 new cases this fiscal year alone.

Vaughn says the Superhero Challenge is one of two annual fundraisers that keep CAN going.

"A day, you know, for families to be together. It's right before the summer season, and so I'm hoping that it's just a fun day of good quality time," said Vaughn

Online registration is closed but you can still register in person. Sunday's event wraps up at 4 p.m.
