Oklahoma City Public School students pre-kindergarten to 12th-grade return to in-person learning four days a week.

Beginning Tuesday, classrooms can return to capacity for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.

District Superintendent, Dr. Sean McDaniel, says he knows many folks will be thrilled to have the students back, but acknowledged that there may be some anxiety that comes with the change.

He says he is confident in the safety measures in place.

“We are going to bring a sense of normalcy back,” said Dr. McDaniel when the decision was made in early March. “We think our kids need it. We think our mitigation efforts outweigh the risk associated with bringing kids back.”

The district implemented a six-point safety planhttps://www.okcps.org/domain/1845

That includes:

  1. Screening
  2. Cleaning and indoor air quality
  3. Mandatory Masks & PPE
  4. Physical Distancing
  5. Incident Response Protocol
  6. Testing for OKCPS Staff

The district’s meal plan will continue on Monday each week, a day students will continue to learn virtually.
