A line around stores is nothing new as people wait to get their hands on the limited supply of ammunition, which right now is limited per person.
"I have driven 400 round trips to pick up cases of ammo," said Brendan Clark, Vice president of the newly formed OU Clay Target Team.
For the new team, ammo has become as precious as gold.
"You can buy ammo online, but good luck finding a website that hasn't jacked up the prices," said Clark.
But factories continue to tell their buyers they are working as quickly as possible against many obstacles.
"We have the momentum. We have the energy. The problem is COVID, the ammo shortage and most recently weather that it is hard," said Clark.
One of the top ammo production sites in the country, Federal Premium, says they saw 7 million new shooters in 2020. When you multiply that by two boxes of ammunition, that's a lot to produce quickly.
"Please understand we are doing everything we can to meet this demand," said Federal President Jason Vanderbrink.
