Oklahomans are continuing to stay safe indoors as we see record-breaking temperatures but what happens when being indoors isn't safe anymore?

Jayra Camarena, the executive director of La Luz, told News 9 regardless of the weather, they are staffed and ready to help any Oklahoman suffering from domestic violence.

La Luz Advocacy Center specializes in crisis intervention and court support. Camarena said victims of domestic violence can reach them on their 24-hour hotline or on social media.

According to their executive director, the most important thing is to take that first step and ask for help.

"Our staff is bilingual, so if a Spanish speaker or English speaker calls, we will be able to provide resources over the phone. Safety planning is one of the key things that we do because it is not easy to just get your things and leave so we have to plan a safe way to get things out," she said.

La Luz also regularly partners with YWCA Oklahoma City to help those in need.
