An Arizona woman was arrested in Oklahoma City after she was accused of abducting her child, U.S. Marshals said Friday.
Ashley Thomas, 29, was arrested Wednesday in Oklahoma City and her 3-year-old child was found and is safe.
U.S. Marshals were looking for Thomas and her mother, 45-year-old Shawn Johnson, after they were supposed to place the child back into Arizona's Department of Child Services' custody.
Thomas was accused of abusing her child which resulted in major injuries, including a lacerated liver, marshals said.
Johnson was given custody of the child but it was discovered she was allowing Thomas to have contact with the child.
Both women fled with the child to Las Vegas, Nevada. Johnson was arrested there on Nov. 25, marshals said.
Both women were taken to local jails where they are waiting for extradition back to Coconino County, Arizona. The child was returned to Arizona's Department of Child Services' custody.
