Youth Deer Gun Season Opening Weekend

Friday is the opening day of Youth Deer Gun Season for hunters 17-years-old and under.

This is one of the best weekends to get kids who are new to hunting outdoors according to Oklahoma biologist Dallas Barber, as the weather conditions are perfect for hunting.

Barber said "Deer movement is really starting to pick up. We are starting to enter some of that pre-rut phase so we are gonna start to see deer moving a lot more often."

Barber added that there may be more people out this season as people look for a way to get outside due to the pandemic.

All hunters participating in the opening weekend of Youth Deer Gun Season must be accompanied by an adult hunter 18 years of age or older.
