Collinsville Man Accused Of Running Major Drug Operation

A man is in the Rogers County Jail, accused of running a major drug operation out of his house in Collinsville, his Tulsa car dealership and from a prison cell in 2016. 

Officials said the investigation has been going on since 2018 and isn’t over yet.

Documents said David Johnson would fly to California twice a month with $60,000 to $80,000 to buy drugs and ship them back to Oklahoma. Documents said then he and some of his family would sell the drugs in Oklahoma.

An affidavit said Johnson ran the drug operation and used family as his employees. It said Johnson distributed drugs around Green Country with help from his wife Allie Johnson, sister Cynthia Chotinkikorn and her wife Charity Barnes.

"Almost all drugs are going to come from outside of Oklahoma, actually outside the country,” Rogers County District Attorney's Office Prosecutor Brian Surber said. “So there has to be a distribution network to get access to those drugs, bring them here and distribute that."

An affidavit said most of the drugs were shipped back to Oklahoma in boxes or cans, or the drugs were packed in an RV and driven to Oklahoma. Documents said some people got paid up to $300 for letting Johnson ship boxes of drugs to their homes.

Surber has worked in narcotics for 25 years and said nearly all crime is tied to drugs. He said taking down the big drug distributors is how you stop the crime.

“If we can attack the organizations, economically in what they do, and dismantle the operation, then that serves a better purpose, than taking individual drug dealers,” Surber said.

Documents said investigators served search warrants in 2019 at Johnson and his wife's house, the car dealership, and Johnson's sister’s house. Documents said they found, marijuana, cash, cocaine, meth, baggies, scales, cash counting machines, and other drugs. Documents said investigators served more warrants this year and found drugs at the same locations.

Several agencies have worked together on this investigation including Tulsa, Owasso, and Broken Arrow Police, Rogers County Sheriff's Office, Rogers County DA's Office, U.S. Marshals, OSBI, ATF, Oklahoma Attorney General's Office and many others.

"To have this many agencies work together and identify all the players in this operation, it's very rewarding for us,” Surber said.
