Norman Police Investigate Shooting After 2 Bodies Found In Backyard

Police are investigating a shooting after two bodies were found in the backyard of a Norman home Wednesday afternoon near 24th Ave NE and Rock Creek Road.

No names have been released, but police confirmed both deceased persons are adult males.

They are also not looking for any suspects.

Norman police spokeswoman Sarah Jensen said while police cannot confirm if they are investigating a murder-suicide, they do report everyone involved in the shooting was found at the scene. 

Ted and Kathy Greb live across the street and said even though they didn’t hear the shooting, their hearts are broken for their neighbors.

“I was coming down Rock Creek Road and police, three of them, whizzed by me. (I) got around here and policemen were on the lawn,” said Kathy.

“We came out in the yard and we saw a number of policemen, maybe 10-12 Norman policemen at the house. They were carrying weapons and rifles in their hands and it looked very serious,” said Ted.

They weren’t the only witnesses.

Just after 3 p.m., a 911 call came from someone at the property.

“The call came in by an individual inside the house,” said Jensen.

Neighbors said they’ve checked in with the family who owns the home.

“They are out of state right now and their daughter is home,” said Ted. “I’m sure they’re very distraught. I don’t know what they know, but I’m sure they are very concerned and they’re trying to come home as soon as they can.”

“We are thinking of you and praying for you and hoping everything is okay,” said Kathy.

Police said they cannot confirm how many shots were fired, but neighbors told News 9 they heard multiple coming from the property.
