Six YMCA locations across the metro are offering child care through their new program called YMCA E-Camp.

“We have always had summer day camp and before and after care,” said Rachel Klein, the VP of Communications for the YMCA. “But this year it is going to look a little different. Our before and after care are going to be all day.”

They decided to kick start the new program after they saw a growing need in the community.

“As soon as the school districts started announcing they were going virtual we started hearing from a lot of parents that were concerned asking if we were going to be doing anything.”

Kids that were enrolled in the summer camp this year will have first dibs on spots. The program is offered for school age students. They will work on their distance learning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After school work kids will get to do activities in groups less than 10. The kids will also be provided a lunch.

The prices for YMCA E-camp are $135 for Household Members, $145 for Youth Members and $165 for non-members.

Registration will be up on the YMCA website on Monday.
