An Oklahoma City family wants justice for their murdered loved one.

It has been four months since 30-year-old Leroy Cheadle Jr.’s family got word that he was found shot to death in northwest Oklahoma City.

Police said the man’s killer is still on the loose.

Cheadle’s family is asking the public to come forward with information.

“The shots went off that night,” said LeeAnn Pannell, the victim’s sister. “It was three shots heard in the neighborhood of 31st and Nesbitt Avenue.”

Police said there were no witnesses to the crime other than the shooter. Pannell is sure someone out there knows who killed her older brother and then took off in his car.

“We just need people to come forth and help us out a little bit,” said Pannell.

Pannell's mother called her the morning of March 30 with the heartbreaking news. Cheadle was gunned down and left on the side of the road for hours before someone driving by saw him and called 911.

“It’s devastating,” said Pannell. “It’s the most hardest thing to have to deal with in life period.”

Pannell said she never saw her brother without a smile or laughing. That joy was taken from his family forever.

“He was just a happy spirit and his spirit is so contagious with the happiness he have, he can spread it to anybody,” said Pannell. “Life is too hard for you to constantly just always be happy and this man is happy all the time.”

She said the hardest part of the investigation is waiting for answers and knowing a killer is out there. Investigators told her they think it was someone close to him.

“As we wait, it’s just driving me crazy,” said Pannell. “This wait is something else. This wait is suffocating. This wait is torturous. I can’t wait no more.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Oklahoma City homicide tip line at 405-297-1200.
