After beating cancer seven times in 11 years, a metro teacher is getting an extra boost from those in her community.  The first time Emily Marshall heard she had breast cancer; she was 33 years old.

Now after beating it 7 times, it's back again. She said her students and family are what motivates her to keep fighting.

“I love what I do here,” said Marshall.  “These kids are loving, they want to learn, they're supportive, they care about what's going on and so I love doing this job.”

In 2008 she was told she had triple negative breast cancer. She went through multiple rounds of chemo and radiation. In 2012 it came back, then again in 2015 and every year since. She said the first time was the scariest.

“Because you hear the word cancer and you immediately think you're going to die,” said Marshall.

She's now in her eighth battle, but this time others decided to join the fight with her. PTA moms from the school reached out to Papa John’s Pizza about a fundraiser. Anyone who orders at their 11 metro locations Wednesday, February 12 will help raise money for Mrs. Marshall.

“It just made sense. anything that we can do to help her beat cancer for the eighth time is what we're all about,” said Nicole Howell with Papa John’s of Oklahoma City.

“The PTA parents this year have been very excited to help and offer things to do and I was excited that Papa Johns was going to do this for me,” explained Marshall.

A GoFundMe Account has also been setup to help Ms. Marshall. Click here if you’d like to donate.
