SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) -- Daniel Hawke Fears was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and 15 other felonies Thursday.

Fears was found guilty of the 2002 shotgun rampage that left two women dead and eight people wounded.

Jurors took a little more than two hours to reject the 20-year-old Sallisaw man's argument that he was insane when he fatally shot Patsy Wells and Reba Spangler. Eight other people were wounded.

Fear's father, professional bass fisherman OT Fears, ran out of the courtroom and slammed the door when the judge read the verdict. Outside the courtroom, Fears screamed, "No, No!"

Jurors recommended life in prison without parole for the murder charges and maximum sentences for the other 15 gun crimes. Prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty.
