BAGHDAD (AP) _ Three U.S. soldiers were killed and another was wounded in an explosion near their vehicle in northern Iraq, the military said Tuesday.

The Task Force Lightning soldiers died as a result of injuries sustained while conducting operations Monday in the northern Ninevah province, according to the statement.

Another soldier was wounded during the blast and was transported to a U.S. medical facility for treatment, it said.

Identities were not released pending notification of relatives.
