Car collision injures 1, slows traffic

One man is critically injured and traffic is slow-moving this morning after a car reportedly collided with a tractor-trailer in the westbound lanes of NW Expressway near Council Rd.

A car collided with a tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning on Northwest Expressway near Council Road, critically injuring the driver of the car and slowing traffic in the area.

A Pep Boys truck was making a right-hand turn into a parking lot off westbound NW Expressway, police said. A car tried to pass the turning truck on the left-hand side when the two vehicles collided authorities said.

The car was severely damaged and the driver was sent to a local hospital in critical condition, emergency officials said. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Traffic was slow-moving in the area early Wednesday morning. By 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, the collision scene was being cleaned with the damaged car sitting on a tow-truck.
