Save on stamps, food

Save money on your food bill, or help a family in need by shopping at the Angel Food Ministries. Buying into the Forever stamp could also save you money at the post office.

Keep those cards, letters and e-mails coming.

Since we started Power for your Pocketbook just a few weeks ago some great ideas have arrived to our inbox.

That's how we heard about the Angel Food Ministries.

The Angel Food ministry are great places to shop for food and save, or help others who are in need for food.

At one ministry in the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church on NE 42 St. and Kelley Ave., you can buy a box of food for $30 once a month.  The box includes enough to feed a family of four for one week.

Some people even buy food for others as a donation to the ministry. Nearly 200 churches across the state are involved in the program.

Another way to save is buying the Forever stamp.

The Postal Service's newest consumer innovation, the Forever stamp, features the Liberty Bell image and the word forever. It is good for mailing one-ounce First Class letters anytime in the future, regardless of stamp price changes. The Forever stamp is on sale now for 41 cents.

Once prices change May 12, the price of the Forever stamp will rise to the 42 cents for First Class one-ounce letters until the next time prices change.

However, the 41-cent Forever stamps bought today will still be the correct postage on First Class letters forever.

For more information on the forever stamp and the churches involved in the angel food ministry, I've linked all that information on my blog.
