A property owner discovered a wild marijuana field Friday growing on his land in McClain County.

Wild marijuana is not uncommon to Oklahoma and is sometimes a nuisance to farmers because they cannot use the land while the crop is growing. The plant was once legal to grow in Oklahoma to make hemp rope.

The sheriff's office said they plan to cut down the four-acre field.

Since the start of summer, agents have confiscated 735 marijuana plants and have made one arrest, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs said.
