OKLAHOMA CITY -- If your Christmas shopping list is bigger than your paycheck, retailers are enticing customers with online and in-store discounts for their last minute gift needs.
As Christmas fast approaches, deals are getting sweeter and shoppers are scouring for bargains.
Nationally, this holiday shopping season has been slower than usual for retailers. They're hoping the sale signs lure a surge of last minute customers. Penn Square officials said it's working, and they expect a busy weekend.
"We have seen traffic pick up very steadily and consistently we expect very heavy traffic this weekend" Penn Square Mall spokesperson Jeanette Smith said.
And maneuvering your way through the crowds may pay off.
"There have been deals at several clothing stores like Ann Taylor. Express has had some good deals. Payless always has buy one get one half off," shopper Jordan Arney said.
But even with all the sales, some shoppers on tight budgets were hoping for even better deals this year.
"I thought the stores would be a little more desperate this year with what the news has been portraying. I haven't seen that yet," shopper Jeff Fitch said.
Besides the posted sales signs, you can also go online or visit Penn Square Mall's customer service desk, they will print out a list of coupons you can use all over the mall.
But time is running out to scoop up the deals, mall officials just have this message for patrons.
"Just have patience and realize it's busy and you're going to have to circle the parking lot a couple of times before you get a parking place," Smith said.
