EDMOND, Oklahoma -- If you're tired of the same old workout, a new popular workout craze has come to the metro. Zumba has Oklahomans dancing away the pounds.
The workout craze started in Florida, and it's basically dancing meets aerobics.
"It's just a party. Zumba is a party" Zumba instructor Kelly Harris said. "Zumba means to move fast and have fun."
At the Edmond YMCA, it's an hour long routine that works out nearly all your muscles.
"Emotionally and mentally, I'm a much happier person. It really just gets into your psyche," Harris said.
The music is festive, ranging from salsa and meringue to hip hop. The class is always packed with women and men of all different ages.
It's one fitness craze that's got 88-year-old Betty Windsor clapping to Latin beats.
"It's fast but it's a blast," Windsor said. "I get tired out and I still am challenged. I just keep wanting to do things because I get such a kick out of it."
Suzie Rays has been shaking it for months and shook off 60 pounds with Zumba.
"It's made me feel better about myself. I used to think I couldn't come to an exercise class because I'm overweight," Rays said.
In this fitness craze, all you need to do is bring some comfy shoes, a spring in your step and dance like no one is watching.
"I just love dancing and it's one of things I do that I think I can hold my own in," Windsor said.
