OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Urban Dare in Oklahoma City had competitors racing through downtown Oklahoma City for the finish line.
Urban Dare organizers said the event is similar to a one day Amazing Race. Each team has 11 destinations, five dares and less than four hours to finish. Competitors may walk, run or use public transportation. Teams were told not to use taxis or segways.
Teams receive a passport stamp at every destination once the dare was completed, then off to the next location. And whether it’s another photo hunt or another challenge, competitors were dared to take on Downtown Oklahoma City side by side to reach their goal.
“Everybody wants to be on amazing race but only a handful of people can do it, and here, anybody can sign up for Urban Dare and the best teams wins,” said Kevin Keefe, Urban Dare president.
All challenges completed and it’s a race for the finish line proving to be a daring way to spend a Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City.
And as for the winners of this year’s Urban Dare.
“We're excited about our victory. We might let some people from Oklahoma City win next year,” said Sarah Paxon, Urban Dare winner.
The winners get a three day Royal Caribbean cruise out of Miami in February where they'll be competing for $5,000 in the first Super Dare.
