EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Police have arrested a man in connection to the death of an Edmond toddler.
Rico Berry, 24, faces charges of first-degree murder in the toddler's death.
Berry and the child's mother approached police Tuesday evening at the Rolling Greens Apartments, where they live, with the child who was not breathing, officers said.
Emergency crews performed CPR on the boy and eventually got a pulse, but the boy later died at a hospital.
Police said Berry was babysitting the child while the mother was in school. Police said they also believe Berry was her live-in boyfriend.
"He had laid hands on the child," said Edmond Police Lt. Tom Custer. "He claimed he didn't know that the child was injured. And when he noticed that Jolen wasn't breathing, was at about the same moment his mother arrived home."
Investigators said the mother is not a suspect at this time.
