NEWCASTLE, Oklahoma -- All dogs go to heaven, but only a few dogs get to go to Broadway. One of them turns out to be a dog from Oklahoma.
In a dog-eat-dog world, Macy is a survivor, and someday soon, she could be starring on Broadway in the musical "Annie."
Last September Theresa Monnard saved Macy from near-certain death and brought her to her RockySpot kennel in Newcastle. Macy fit right in.
"She's just got this sparkling personality. She has got this, the world, 'I'm here to entertain you. Look at me. See how special I am,'" Monnard said.
Bill Berloni noticed. He trains dogs for Broadway shows. Once he saw Macy's picture online, he came to Newcastle to meet her.
"She jumped up and posed for him immediately and put her hand out and said, 'take me home,'" Monnard said.
Macy now lives with Jim Berloni and is appearing in some high school musicals until the next time "Annie" opens on Broadway.
"If she makes it to Broadway, she will be the biggest Broadway star. She knows she's special," Monnard said.
Before she went to Newcastle, Macy completed a dog obedience course at a state prison in Holdenville.
