OKLAHOMA CITY -- As sports enthusiasts watch the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics, an Oklahoma City company will be monitoring the athletes and dignitaries at the events themselves.
U.S. Fleet Tracking started in Oklahoma City, but now has countless clients worldwide. The company also provides services for big ticket events.
"I'm having the time of my life," said U.S. Fleet Tracking CEO Jerry Hunter.
The company specializes in Global Positioning System Devices that can track in real time. Updates are as quick as 10 seconds or less making the company the industry leader.
U.S. Fleet Tracking will have 250 GPS trackers at Sunday's Super Bowl in Miami and will use 700 devices during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Event organizers including security will be able to keep tabs on vehicles carrying athletes and equipment. The majority of U.S. Fleet Tracking customers though are on a smaller scale.
"The company provides services to a lot of businesses wanting to track their inventory and become more efficient. We also work with a lot of parents who want to track their kids," Hunter said.
Customers are given a secure login and can see detailed information on the vehicle they want to track and can even start the car engine from the computer. U.S. Fleet Tracking recently developed an application for the iPhone so customers who have an iPhone can track from their mobile device.
The device itself costs about $400, but the actual tracking costs as little as $1 a day.
