BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- More than a dozen soldiers were welcomed home Saturday.
The men and women of the 164th Quartermaster Group out of Broken Arrow returned from a year-long deployment in Iraq.
A Welcome Home Warrior Citizen Ceremony was held, and family and friends were there as the soldiers received special plaques in honor of their service. For the majority of the soldiers, it was their first deployment.
Specialist Jeff Hughes says he thought about his two young children everyday he was overseas.
"You never really know how much you have, you know, until you don't have it. And being gone a full year, they really grew up quite a bit," said Specialist Jeff Hughes, Army Reserves.
While in Iraq, the soldiers were responsible for receiving shipments and fueling military vehicles.
