OKLAHOMA CITY -- A man who was reported missing was found shot near Highway 102 in Pottawatomie County.
Police received a call of a missing man early Tuesday morning. Employees at 8 S.W. 29th Street told police Larry Cawthon came to work and then went missing sometime between 5 and 6 a.m. The 56-year-old's car was also outstanding.
A few hours later officers received a 911 call from Cawthon reporting he'd been shot. Police located Cawthon and his vehicle, which was partially burned, near Highway 102 five miles north of Highway 39.
Cawthon was transported by helicopter to an area hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Through initial investigation, Cawthon reported being kidnapped by two Hispanic males and two white males. The suspects were possibly in a maroon vehicle.
Cawthon told investigators he may have recognized one of his kidnappers as a young boy who approached him while he was at work last week. Cawthon said the boy asked him for $20, but he told the boy no.
Authorities are trying to determine exactly what led to the shooting.
Officers area searching for the four suspects. Anyone with information regarding this incident should call the homicide tip line at 405-297-1200.
