OKLAHOMA CITY –The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's office said a Wyandotte girl who died in a playground incident last year suffered a severe concussion.
Alyssa Avila died last August when she fell off a piece of playground equipment called the X-Wave, a teeter-totter like contraption, then hit her head on the equipment as she tried to get up.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner said the nine-year-old died from "Commotio Cerebri," or trauma which caused a severe concussion. The ME's office ruled her death accidental.
Several school districts removed the X-Wave following the incident.
