MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- Midwest City Police have released the name of a mother of two  who was shot and killed near N.E. 10th Street and Air Depot Boulevard Monday night.

Police said 29-year-old Shamikia Walker and her 5-year-old daughter had gone to a nearby 7-Eleven and returned just before 9 p.m. Walker had just stepped out of her vehicle when a newer model, black car pulled up and someone inside summoned her to the car.

When Walker approached the open, driver's side window, someone pulled out a gun and started shooting.  Walker was shot several times and died at the scene.

Police said Walker's daughter, who was not hurt, ran into the house and told the adults inside what happened.  Several people in the area called 911 after hearing the shots.

Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes described the shooting as "senseless."  Anyone with information is urged to call (405) 739-1306.

Chief Clabes said Walker had a criminal history.  She was arrested Jan. 13 during an anti-drug operation called "First Strike" conducted by the FBI, United States Marshal Service, ICE and Oklahoma City Police Department.

Just after her arrest, Walker's children were taken into state protective custody.  Police have not said if there's any connection between Walker's arrest and her death.
