EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Crews at Oklahoma Christian University are cleaning up from the most extensive amount of vandalism the university has ever seen.

Police are trying to find who is responsible for causing the destruction. The vandalism is hard to miss as new students arrive for the fall semester.

Boarded-up windows mark the path of destruction at OC.

"It's the first time we've ever had any damage on campus to this extent," said Ron Frost, Oklahoma Christian University Vice President of Communications.

The vandalism is widespread from one end of campus to the other. It's mostly broken windows. A computer lab is also in shambles after many Macintosh computers were destroyed.

"It's probably going to be upwards to $50,000 to $60,000 worth of damage all together," Frost said.

Students on campus were surprised to see the damage.

"I was pretty shocked," said junior Will Urban. "I didn't know why somebody would come in here and just break stuff."

Students on campus are expressing concerns over their safety on Saturday.

"It's very scary if you see the way they broke windows," said freshman Aristide Garinger. "It makes me wonder how … the security [is] here."

OC says there is a 24-hour police presence on campus, but even that wasn't enough to prevent the damage.

"We may look at adding some alarms in some areas," said Frost.

Police say they believe someone acted alone in creating the mess.

For now, the university is trying to get back to normal while cleaning up during one of the busiest times of the year.

"It's usually a pretty quiet place," said Urban. "Edmond is a pretty safe [community], so, when something like this happened, it's a pretty big deal."

Police say they have questioned a suspect in the case, but charges have not yet been filed.

The university says a lot of progress has been made in the clean-up work and new computers have already been ordered.
