OKLAHOMA CITY – Three men suspected of drug trafficking are sitting behind bars after an Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputy noticed something strange during a traffic stop.

On Monday, October 10, the deputy pulled over a van that was swerving near S.W. 15th Street and Brookline Avenue in Oklahoma City. Three men were inside the van.

When the deputy approached the vehicle, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The deputy says while speaking with the driver, 52-year-old Sherman Young, he noticed Young appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The deputy also noted passengers Lucas Savage, 20, and Richard Martin, 61, had a leafy, green substance all over their clothes that appeared to be marijuana.

The deputy says during the traffic stop, one of the suspects revealed there was marijuana inside the van. The deputy found several trash bags weighing a total of 31 pounds filled with the illegal drug.

All three men were taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of trafficking in illegal drugs.
