IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Jamie Blatnick and Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles have both been honored by the conference as the Big 12 Offensive and Defensive players of the week.

Saturday in the Sooners 47-17 win over Kansas Broyles set two career records. The wide receiver broke the NCAA record for receptions and set a new Big 12 mark for touchdown receptions.

"The guy is just amazing," said Stoops. "He is such a dynamic player when you look at his consistency. To set an NCAA record is really pretty special it shows just his consistency and big-play ability. Here's a guy that halfway through the season that has the NCAA receiving record and did it in such great fashion."

The senior had 13 catches for a school-record 217 yards and two touchdowns. Broyles ended the night with career marks of 326 catches and 44 receiving touchdowns. The Norman native also tallied 84 yards in punt returns for an all-purpose total of 301 yards.

Meanwhile OSU's Blatnick also had a career high performance against Texas. The senior defensive end recorded a career-high nine tackles with two quarterback sacks and four tackles for loss in the Cowboys 38-28 win over Texas.

Blatnick's four tackles for loss tied for the most by a Big 12 player this season.

After the OU game, a piece of the night's record setting history was thrown by the wayside as Broyles threw away the gloves he wore during the game.

After the game OU Associate Athletic Director Kenny Mossman retrieved the gloves out of a trash can to save the piece of history. Many asked Broyles on Twitter why he threw them away to which he simply said it was "reaction to the game. I fumbled! Not acceptable. So I got a new pair!"

The No.3 ranked Sooners now prepare to host Texas Tech Saturday Oct. 22. Coach Stoops said during the Big 12 teleconference Monday that the Tech offense is similar to what they have seen in the past, but that the team will definitely have to be ready for the challenge.

"There are still a lot of similarities in how they spread the ball around during some of their run plays and throwing the football so it seems very familiar to what we are used to seeing from Tech," said Stoops. The quarterback is doing a great job completing 70 percent of his balls and averaging well over 300 yards per game."

Oklahoma State will travel to face Missouri Saturday. The No. 4 Cowboys will look to continue their undefeated start despite the intense environment against the Tigers.

"Missouri is a better football team than people are giving them credit for," said Gundy.

"Defensively they still run to the ball very well, they are mixing up their package some and there's times when they've defended really well so like each week it will be a challenge for us, our guys will have to work their tail of and get ready to go play up in a difficult environment up there in Columbia" said Gundy.

The conference honors are the first for both Broyles and Blatnick. Kansas State defensive tackle Raphel Guidry was also honor this week as the conference's special teams player of the week after his two blocked field goals in the Wildcats 41-34 win over Texas Tech.
