News 9 This Morning's Stan Miller's concern for making sure no child goes hungry comes from a place he knows all too well: his childhood.

"I grew up in a house that was very dysfunctional; a lot of fear, a lot of being abandoned, being left alone. A lot of welfare, a lot of food stamps, a lot of embarrassment. I was the person that if I needed food I could go steal it. If I needed clothes, I could go steal a shirt for school."

Stan says his life turned around when he became a Christian at age 21. Now, he says he feels he has to do something when he sees children in need.

"I can't sit there and watch this stuff on TV. I can't sit there. If I see something, as an anchor, if I see someone hurting, I got to do something."

That's why when News 9 started its mission to raise awareness and money to feed children, Stan jumped at the chance to help. About 10 years ago, he started his first motorcycle ride to raise money for charity. His latest one, in September 2011, raised more than $77,000 for the Regional Food Bank's Food for Kid's program.
