Police confirmed Monday that Sgt. Sinue Xavier Zepeda shot and killed 28-year-old Bobby Joe Truelove after responding to a disturbance call.

The shooting occurred outside of the Willow Cliff apartment complex Saturday, April 21. According to police, several disturbance calls were placed that evening from both the Willow Cliff and the Lodge apartment complexes near N.W. 50th Street and Meridian Avenue. One call stated a man was breaking out car windows.
Police at the scene said Zepeda responded to the Willow Cliff Apartments where he found Truelove. Witnesses say the officer stunned Truelove twice with a stun gun, then shot him twice. Captain Dexter Nelson said Truelove assaulted the officer forcing him to use deadly force.
Truelove's family said the shooting was not justified, though, that their loved one was having emotional problems at the time, not a suspect in any crime. They now plan to hire an attorney.
