Police Released 911 Call In Midwest City Fatal Fire

A grandmother's frantic call for help ended with grief. Her two grandbabies died in the fire at an apartment complex in Midwest City on Sunday, and the mother of the children did not survive.

When the mother discovered her apartment on fire, firefighters say Lindsey Terry called her mother who lives just a few feet away to say her and her two sons were trapped inside, that's when the grandmother made this heartbreaking call for help.

The call is difficult to understand. But there is no mistaking the fear.

Dispatcher: "what I need you to do is get everybody out."

Caller: "I can't get them out!"

While talking to the 911 dispatcher and her daughter, who was trapped inside a burning apartment with her two little boys, the grandmother tried to free the family.

Caller: "I'm in…oh my god ... fire alarm sound, oh my god."

Dispatcher: "I need you to get out of there!"

Caller: "I am!"

When firefighters arrived, they found Lindsey Terry and her 4-year-old son Dylan and 2-year-old son John in the back bedroom.

Firefighters believe the flames began in the living room. They say the heat and smoke would keep the mother and the boys from surviving.

Niecie Pearson and Becky Welden are in disbelief. Both have provided child care for the boys during their short lives, and now, like dozens of others, place flowers in remembrance.

"Every day, when they would walk in to the center, they just smiled," Welden said.

Remembering a mother who they say, always protected her boys.

"She was an awesome mom," Welden said.
