Special Graduation Ceremony Hosted For OKC Teen Injured In Crash

School is out and all the recent high school graduates are busy celebrating. But for one young woman, the celebration is starting a little late.

Better late than never would be an understatement for one John Marshall high school grad.

Graduation was on May 17, a day Kristen Wilson wasn't there for.

"It was heartbreaking. I didn't want it to happen but it happened," Wilson said.

The "it," a driver ran a red light and smashed into her car.

"I'm just thankful god has his angels with me, because it could have been a lot worse than what it was," Wilson said.

Family and friends are cheering her on. Wilson is getting stronger and hopes to walk again soon.

"So many emotions, mainly gratitude and faithfulness," Wilson said.

Wilson says faith, family and friends helped her get up on the stage a few weeks later than everyone else.

"The love that's been shown to her is amazing," Wilson's grandmother said.

"I wanna get better and go to OSU and move on in my life," Wilson said.

Wilson was going to a nail and hair appointment on May 17 when someone ran a red light and hit her car. She suffered broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a fractured pelvis.
