Police have arrested two men suspected of forcing their way into an Oklahoma City home and gunning down a rising college basketball star.

Police have arrested two men suspected of forcing their way into an Oklahoma City home and gunning down a rising college basketball star.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office Warrant Team arrested 22-year-old Deandre Smith on March 1 in the 5500 block of Chad Road in Oklahoma City. Deputies say when they knocked on the door, Smith answered and surrendered without incident. Police also arrested 23-year-old Tywan Sellars.

Both suspects were booked into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of first-degree murder.

Police say around 3 a.m. on January 14, someone kicked in the door of a home in the 1200 block of N.E. 46th Street. Anthony Hartfield, Jr., 20, was shot and killed. His father was home at the time. He rushed downstairs and found his son lying near the door.

Hartfield was a first-year student at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma. He was on the basketball team, and his family said he had dreams of playing in the NBA.
