A man accused of stabbing one person, and then barricading himself and two kids inside a northwest Oklahoma City apartment, has been arrested following a nearly 9-hour police standoff Sunday morning.
According to police, at about 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a stabbing at the Willow Cliff Apartments, located at 5304 Willow Cliff Rd. in Oklahoma City. The victim called police after being stabbed by the suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Fernando Aralge.
Police say the victim jumped out of a second-story apartment to escape from Aralge, who is her common-law husband. She is in stable condition.
The suspect reportedly barricaded himself and two children, ages 14 and 4, in the apartment after officers arrived at the scene.
Just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday, a SWAT team entered the apartment and took Aralge into custody. The children are not injured and are back with their mother.
Several emergency crews are on the scene, including the bomb squad, EMSA, Oklahoma City police and fire departments, and the Red Cross.
This is not the first time police responded to the Willow Cliff apartments. On Wednesday, March 27, Officer Jeff Coffey was responding to the report of a domestic dispute at the Willow Cliff apartments, when he was attacked.
Police were investigating a homicide on March 3 at the same apartments, when a body was found in a burned out car. Charles Roberson has lived at Willow Cliff for about a year.
