Two people are behind bars after police find more than 30 bags of heroin.
Police say the drugs were found inside the boots of one of the suspects, 22-year-old Omar Gilberto Sanchez. The drugs were discovered when Sanchez was checking into the Carver Center, a Department of Corrections halfway house near S. May and Reno, on Saturday, May 4.
Also arrested was 20-year-old Laura Sophia Rivas, who was with Sanchez. Police say Rivas had her children with her, a one-year-old and a two-month-old.
Police recovered two baggies that were confiscated from the suspects during check-in. One baggie contained 17 purple balloons containing 8.6 grams of heroin. The second baggie contained 14 yellow balloons weighing 12.9 grams of heroin.
Both Sanchez and Rivas were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and face charges of trafficking a controlled and dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and possession of contraband.
