Firefighters have contained a large grass fire that was creeping toward homes in Lincoln County.
The grass fire was first reported before 2 p.m. Wednesday. It's burning on East 140th Street and Rose Road between Ripley, Tyron, Cushing and Perkins. This fire was threatening some structures, including several houses and mobile homes.
According to Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD pilot Jim Gardner, the fire scorched about 100 acres. There were a lot of cedar trees and tall grass in the area fueling the flames. Strong winds gusting 25 to 30 mph out of the southwest are also pushed the fire.
By 3:30 p.m., firefighters had the grass fire under control. They remained on the scene, putting out hot-spots. The fire did not damage any homes.
It's not known yet how the grass fire started.
