Authorities shut down Portland Ave. at SW 149th St. while Hazmat crews worked to clean up an oil spill in the area, Wednesday night.
Crews tell News 9 a busted valve is to blame for spilling the oil-like substance into the road. Firefighters arrived on scene and shut the road down from SW 149th and Portland to one block east while Hazmat cleaned up the scene.
The valve has been repaired, and as of 9 p.m., crews were still cleaning up the scene and the road was still closed. There were no injuries and no problems with fumes.
