A lot going on this week, starting with today! The winds are back this afternoon as gusts reach 30 to 40 mph out of the south. Winds will be strongest in west, northwest, and north-central Oklahoma this afternoon.
Combine the winds with our warm temps and low humidity values, and the fire danger ramps up into the extreme category this afternoon. Fires will be able to form and spread without trouble today.
A huge storm system off the Pacific Northwest coast will bring a possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday. Details are still a little muddy at this point, but lots of the ingredients will be in place. It's just a matter of where the boundaries will set up and when the upper level system decides to move across the state.
Right now, you just need to be aware of the possibility of severe weather on Wednesday and Thursday. We'll have more once the system gets closer. Stay with News 9, we'll keep you advised.
