The Children's Garden at Myriad Botanical Gardens has five new residents, just in time for the playoffs. The newly-created Thunder Garden is a fun way for kids to see just how tall their Thunder player idols are and it's a unique way for the Gardens to show its Thunder spirit.
There are five posts, painted in Thunder colors, with basketball planters on top, and each one is the height of a player. Kids can guess which player is which height and then lift the basketball sign attached to the post to see if they got it right.
"We wanted to show our support and enthusiasm for the Thunder in a way that was unique to the Gardens and fun for our visitors. Of course we thought of doing a planting of some kind, and we decided it would be fun for kids to see that their heroes really are larger than life, and how they stack up," said Myriad Gardens Foundation Executive Director Maureen Heffernan.
Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka are represented as key members of the starting lineup, along with our tallest player, Hashim Thabeet and our shortest, Derrick Fisher.
