Police have arrested a suspect who opened fire at police officers early Sunday morning in southwest Oklahoma City.
The officer-involved shooting happened near S.W. 85th and Penn. Officers were responding to a disturbance call at a Walgreens when the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Jerad Keith Gravitt, opened fire on a police cruiser.
An officer returned fire before Gravitt took off, setting off a manhunt in the area.
Gravitt was taken into custody at about 5:10 a.m.
Officers were able to detain a woman who was with the suspect at the time of the shooting.
"As the officer tried to get the subject to stop, that subject produced a handgun and fired shots at the officer," Capt. Dexter Nelson said.
K9 officers and an air unit were called to the scene to assist with the search.
