Police say they discovered marijuana and meth at the home of a Del City woman who found a missing boy, according to an affidavit released on Tuesday.
Carmen McDonald, 36, was arrested last Wednesday after officers found her walking down the street with the child. Officers say McDonald had blood shot, watery eyes, and they could smell a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and person. Her speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet.
McDonald reportedly told the officers that she found the child by himself in front of a convenience store in the 4600 block of S.E. 29th, and took him to her house. She then fixed him some food. About an hour later, she walked him back to the store where she found him.
McDonald was arrested at the scene for public intoxication. But she will be facing the much more serious charge of child endangerment because of what police found in her home.
When officers went to her home in the 4700 block of Newport Dr. in Del City shortly after the arrest, they saw used syringes and homemade marijuana smoking pipes on a table in the living room, according to an affidavit.
Officers then obtained a search warrant of the house and found a green leafy substance and white powder residue later tested positive for marijuana and meth.
Another woman living at the house, 28-year-old Elizabeth Ayala, was also arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She denied knowing that there were drugs in the house, but admitted to police that she had been "huffing" since she was 14 years old and is currently 3-month pregnant.
The boy was checked out a local hospital and is doing OK. He is back at home with his family.
