Smoke from a grass fire near Yukon forced authorities to temporarily shut down eastbound traffic on Interstate 40, Thursday morning.

Fire crews were called out to the area of NW 10th St. and N. Czech Hall Rd. to battle the blaze just after 11 a.m.

Due to low visibility created by smoke from the fire, law enforcement officials shut down eastbound I-40, west of Czech Hall Rd., for approximately 20 minutes until firefighters could get a handle on things.

About 20 or 30 acres burned. It appears the fire was sparked by an ATV, found charred in the middle of the field. No structures were threatened and there have been no reports of injuries.
