Ask just about any parent and they'll tell you their child's education is of utmost importance.

This week is something called "School Choice Week." It's a push for even more options for kids to learn and grow.

It's all about what is best individually for your child. The yellow scarves you will see this week are a symbol of school choice and Oklahoma has 65 events in several cities, including one at the State Capitol planned for this Thursday.

We talked to an advocate of the national campaign.

"Go to a website that ranks schools like greatschools.org. The test scores aren't everything, but you should be looking. Visit the schools and see what they specialize in. You may have an artist, a child who love math or writing. Schools aren't the same. Take them in that setting and see how they relax," said Lisa Keegan with National School Choice Week.

What choices do we have in our state? Oklahoma has public charter and public magnet schools, online learning, private schools and homeschooling freedom.

What we don't have that 22 other states do is Mandatory Inter-District Public School Choice, which allows parents to send their children to different public schools, regardless of their ZIP code or school district.
