Metro firefighters have had their hands full battling a pair of grass fires on Thursday.
Fire crews were first called out to douse a grass fire east of the metro, near the town of Spencer, around NE 55th St. and N. Post Rd., just after 12 p.m.
A resident was burning a brush pile when the fire got outside of the confines and spread. So far about eight acres of land has burned.
Crews from Oklahoma City, Spencer and Nicoma Park were called in to battle the blaze. The location of the fire is causing some difficulty for the firefighters.
Then, a little after 1 p.m., firefighters were called to another grass fire, this one burning in the median along westbound Interstate 44, near SW 104th St. That fire did not cause any traffic problems in the area.
