On Monday, Oklahoma City police revealed the name of the officers involved in Sunday's deadly shootout with an armed suspect, as well as the name of the gunman who was shot and killed.

News 9 has learned the officers are Sgt. Daniel Herring, a seven-year veteran of the OKC police force, and officer Nicolas Wallace, who has been with the department two years.

Police identified the armed suspect who was shot and killed Daniel Laguna, 21, of Oklahoma City. News 9 checked with the jail and they tell us he has been arrested eight times since 2013 for DUI, drugs and driving on a suspended license.

Police say when their officers arrived at the Brookwood Village Apartments, near SW 94 and S. Western Ave., Laguna, who was armed, took an aggressive stance with them. That is when Herring and Wallace returned fire.

"We have multiple independent witnesses who did tell us the officers did order the suspect several time to drop the weapon and apparently he did not, " said Oklahoma City Police Capt. Paco Balderrama.

Police say officers originally responded to the apartments after getting several 911 calls about shots being fired at the complex. They later learned that two armed men forced their way into one of the apartments and attacked a man living inside.

When officers arrived the found three men in the courtyard; one of them was lying on the ground and appeared to have been badly beaten. Another man reportedly took off as soon as he saw police. The third person was identified as Laguna.

On Sunday, News 9 showed you how some of those bullets hit, barely missing innocent renters.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and the officers involved are on paid administrative leave.
