It's here again, tax time.
If you haven't already got your W2 in hand, it should be coming in the next week or so. And then it is time to start the filing process.
David Stell with the IRS offers tips on making sure you don't lose some of your refund dollars and choose a tax preparer that works for you.
Stell suggests there are some things to avoid when shopping for a tax preparer:
-Avoid tax preparers who, without looking at your records, guarantee a refund or claim they can get you a larger refund than other preparers.
-Avoid tax preparers who base their fees on a percentage of your refund.
Choose a tax preparer that will be around after April 15 in case a problem arises with your tax return. You want to make sure you are seeking the help of someone that can provide reference and has a good history with the BBB as well.
