A metro woman is recovering after being shot in the face during a carjacking. Her alleged attacker is only 16-years-old.
Police caught the teenaged suspect at McDonalds at NE 10 Street and Interstate 35 a few hours after the attack.
Hershell Anderson, 16, was jailed on felony charges of robbery with a firearm and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Sgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department said Anderson approached a woman getting into her car outside a supermarket at SW 32 Street and Agnew Avenue Tuesday night.
"He ended up taking the vehicle, but not before shooting her in the face," Knight said. "He fled the scene in her vehicle."
About two hours after the shooting, police started getting calls about a suspicious car parked outside a house on NE 11 Street.
"The neighbors there realized it was parked in front of a vacant house and simply just didn't belong there," Knight said.
It turned out to be the victim's car, but the suspect had fled again.
Police began searching for him in the area and they found him at a nearby McDondalds.
Officers went into the McDonalds at NE 10 Street and I-35. They located the suspect sitting inside of the restaurant. He was taken into custody without incident at the scene.
This isn't Anderson's first brush with the law. He was arrested in December of 2005 for a purse snatching at a Wal-Mart.As for the victim, she's Lavada Carreon, 26, of Oklahoma City. The family is not releasing information on her condition. Police said the injury is serious, but she is expected to recover.
