An American Airlines flight has landed safely at Miami International Airport on Friday after experiencing technical difficulties, officials said.
Flight 182, carrying about 130 people, was headed to Chicago from West Palm Beach when the aircraft was diverted to Miami because of nose gear trouble.
The pilots of the MD-80 jet were burning fuel as a precautionary measure before landing, said a Miami airport spokesperson.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the problem was either with the nose gear or its door.
The plane was flying by the tower before landing so that personnel could see if the gear was properly extended.
