When the tornado came through the metro early Monday morning, a University of Central Oklahoma student had his camera rolling.

Steven Farrell had never been storm chasing Monday morning, when he captured his first tornado on tape.

"Yeah, I just have my little Cannon HV20 here," Farrell said. "I got it about three months ago."

As a broadcast student at UCO, Farrell has a passion for pictures. So, when the storm came through, he grabbed his camera and took off storm chasing.

"We were listening to a radio station and listening to their weatherman, and tracking it, just followed them and I had the camera pointing outside the window trying to keep it steady," Farrell said.

It was so dark so Farrell had no idea what he was catching on video, that is, until he slowed it down.

"No idea until I got home and put an effect on it," he said. "I saw it; I was giddy. I was screaming. This defiantly revitalized my passion for news, and breaking news as well."

Just a reminder, it's never safe to go storm chasing without knowing what you're doing. Farrell says a college professor had taught him the basics.
